Chicken Philly sandwiches are so yummy. This particular recipe, made in your crockpot, is also ridiculously easy to make and doesn’t take a lot of prep time to make it happen either. In this post, I am going to show you how to make an easy chicken philly sandwich in your crockpot.

chicken philly

I have to say that I love a good chicken philly cheesesteak over a regular philly cheesesteak made with flank steak.

Probably because the sandwiches made with flank steak make me poop and not a fun poop either. A nasty poop that makes me use several wet wipes.

I hope you’re still with me now that I have totally overshared and possibly grossed you out. My bad. It won’t happen again (not in this post anyways).

This recipe for chicken philly cheesesteaks I swear is one of the easiest recipes you can make. I’m not exaggerating.

The hardest part is slicing the green peppers and onions. But to be honest that’s not even that hard.

Just don’t slice a finger in the process, which has happened to me before. My husband says I should only be allowed to use plastic children’s toy knives when I go to cut things. HAHAHA!

I mean he’s probably not wrong, I cut myself more times than I’d like to admit.

Okay, enough about me, my bowels, and my failure to use a knife correctly. Let’s move on to this amazing chicken philly sandwich recipe.

Crockpot Chicken Philly Sandwich

  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
  • Green Pepper
  • Onion
  • Butter
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • Hoagies
  • Provolone Cheese

The first thing you are going to want to do is whip out your favorite crockpot.

Next, get a cutting board and start slicing up one to two green peppers and a half to a whole onion. How much you cut into slices is totally up to you.

My kids freak out if they see too much green stuff along with some slimy-looking onions. Therefore, I only cut one green pepper and half an onion. But you do you.

If I had it my way I would do two green peppers and half an onion because I like green pepper the most. But I also want my kids to eat it so less is best? (insert eye roll)

Once you have your veggies sliced up, toss them into the crockpot along with 2 tablespoons of butter and 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts.

Just so you know, I buy my chicken breasts in bulk. So that I can then separate it into the amounts I need to cook for my family and freeze them in ziplock bags. So that’s why you see a brick of chicken in my crockpot, haha.

After everything is placed inside your crockpot start seasoning it all with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Measure with your heart.

Next, you will cover it with your lid and set it on low setting for 6 to 8 hours. I usually hit the 7-hour mark whenever I cook my chicken in the crockpot. If you are not using frozen chicken like I am then you really only need to cook it for about 4 to 6 hours.

After your chicken philly insides are all finished cooking then you will shred up your chicken.

I used my meat chopper and my 2.5 qt dish to get this job done.

Once the chicken is shredded you can then start assembling your hoagies. I like to add provolone cheese to mine along with even toasting the hoagie.

Oh-Em-Gee, this sandwich is delish! Enjoy!
