Baked Ziti With Ricotta

Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz box ziti noodles cook according to the box
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Sauce

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork sausage
  • 2 tbsp minced onion
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 24oz jars spaghetti sauce of your choice
  • 3 tsp italian seasoning
  • tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Ricotta Filling

  • 24 oz ricotta
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°

Meat Sauce

  • In a large skillet on medium heat cook hamburger, sausage, onion, and garlic until no longer pink. Drain grease
  • Add the rest of the "Meat Sauce" ingredients and mix until well combined.
  • Bring your sauce to a boil, once boiling turn down the heat and let simmer until it's time to assemble
  • Boil your ziti noodles according to the box

Ricotta Filling

  • In a medium size bowl combine all the "ricotta filling" ingredients. Mix until well combined.

How To Assemble

  • In an ungreased 13x9 deep baking dish spread evenly ½ cup meat sauce
  • Spread evenly half of your ziti noodles
  • Spread evenly half of your ricotta mix
  • Spread evenly half of your meat sauce
  • Sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella cheese on top
  • Spread evenly the rest of your ziti noodles
  • Spread evenly the rest of your ricotta mix
  • Spread evenly the rest of your meat sauce
  • Top with 2 cups mozzarella Cheese
  • Cover with tin foil and bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese melts and the top is beginning to turn brown.
