Green Bean Casserole, you either love it or you hate it. I really don’t believe there is an in-between for this recipe. But after making THIS recipe you will love it! In this post, I will show you how to make a delicious Green Bean Casserole that everyone will love.

I used to hate it. Just the thought of mushroom soup grosses me out. Yet, that nasty soup makes my crockpot roast absolutely amazeballs, to each their own I guess.

Green Bean Casserole is another one of those recipes I only make around the holidays. And I only make it because the hubs loves it. This recipe I WILL actually eat.

I have tried several different green bean casserole recipes. I have even tried his mom’s recipe.

And I just don’t like them. I know right, Kathy’s (the Mother-In-Law) recipe should have been the one but it wasn’t.

I think it’s because you can really taste that cream of mushroom soup in it (barf).

So after several trials and errors (because I love my husband so much) along with adding and measurement changes I have a really good green bean casserole recipe.

I love it, Ryan loves it, he says it’s better than his mom’s, and will even make moaning noises as he eats it (HaHaHa). Hell yes, high five!

So let’s jump right into this recipe, shall we?

Ingredients For Green Bean Casserole

Classic Green Bean Casserole Recipe

First things first preheat your oven to 350°.

Then you will want to cook that bacon. I take a package of bacon and cut it down the middle with a pair of kitchen shears. Store the other half in a ziploc bag or air-tight container.

On a side note, I find cutting it this way convenient for when we go to make sandwiches or burgers later on.

I then like to cook mine on a tinfoil-lined baking sheet in the oven. Do this at 400° for about 10-13 minutes or until crispy.

I choose this option because I fear bacon grease splattering my skin not to mention ruining my shirts.

I do, however, have a kick-ass grease stain remover hack but it is a process I try to avoid when I can.

You can always cook your bacon in a frying pan on the stovetop. Do whichever your little heart desires.

Once your bacon is finished cooking chop it into smaller pieces. If you don’t want to take the time to cook bacon then you can always buy the precooked bacon. Add about a 1/2 cup.

Next, in a medium-sized bowl. Add 3 – 14.5oz cans of cut green beans (drained), 1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup, 1/4 cup milk, 1/8 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1 cup fried onions, your chopped bacon, and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Mix it all together.

Once all the goodness is mixed together transfer it to a 2.5 qt baking dish.

Next, top it with more shredded cheddar cheese and fried onions (in this step measure with your heart).

Then bake it in the oven at 350° for 30 minutes.

That’s it, my friend. Enjoy this side dish at Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas dinner or just because you were craving it.

Here are a few of my other favorite side dishes to serve alongside this classic green bean casserole.
