Making a quick and easy one-pot dinner is the best. Especially if you are a busy mom freaking out about what to make for dinner and what sides to go along with it. In this post, I am going to show you how to make an easy one-pot dinner using Knorr cheddar broccoli and smoked sausage.

one pot dinner

Back in the day I never would have thought to make a main dish out of the little Knorr pasta packets. Never even thought that I could feed the whole family and the dish ended up being more than just the pasta itself. I always thought you made it by itself as a light lunch or add it as a side with another main dish.

This one-pot meal isn’t something extravagant. I wouldn’t necessarily want to serve this at my next big family function (but you definitely can, no judgment here friend). But, it is however something quick and simple you can throw together within 30 minutes. And there is no stress trying to come up with several sides to go along with it.

Did I mention that my kids gobbled this up as well? So it’s safe to say that this is a quick kid-friendly dinner.

One-Pot Dinner – Cheddar Broccoli With Smoked Sausage

  • 2 packs Knorr Cheddar Broccoli Pasta Sides
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Water
  • Smoked Beef Sausage aka Kielbasa
  • Broccoli Florets
  • Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

The first thing you will want to do is cut a 12oz thing of smoked beef sausage aka kielbasa into slices. I like to then cut those pieces into halves. But you can do whatever you like. You can even go as far as cutting each slice into quarters.

Once you cut your smoked sausage into slices toss them into a pan to cook. Make sure you use a big enough pan along with deep enough. You don’t want anything to spill out once you start adding all the things. I use my 12″ pan with 2″ sides, it’s perfect.

Once your smoked sausage is finished pour it into a separate bowl and set it aside for later.

In the same pan, you just cooked your sausage, add 3 cups water, 1 cup milk, and 2 tbsp butter. Cook on medium heat until it begins to boil.

While you are waiting on that to boil, heat a 12oz bag of frozen broccoli florets as directed on the back of the package. But cut the cooking time in about half. After it is halfway thawed, you can either use it as is, or I like to chop it up just a little bit more. Creating smaller easier broccoli bites.

Once your pan has come to a boil, add in 2 Knorr Cheddar Broccoli Pasta packs, the chopped broccoli, and your sliced smoked sausage. Give it a good stir, mixing everything together. Bring it back to a boil and then turn down the heat to let it simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes or until the noodles are tender. Be sure to stir it occasionally while it simmers. You don’t want it to stick.

After the 10 minutes is up, turn off your stove, and add 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Stir until all the cheese has melted and mixed in with everything. Then serve it in a bowl and Enjoy!
