This particular sausage balls recipe will be an absolute crowd pleaser the next time you are asked to bring an appetizer to a party.

This easy sausage balls recipe has been tested and approved by all family members, even the picky eating children of the bunch.

In this post I am going to show you how to make sausage balls that is so much better than the regular 3 ingredient traditional recipe.

Sausage Balls

This is one of the best sausage ball recipes I have ever made. I always try to bring these whenever I’m invited to a holiday party that ask me to bring an appetizer. One, because it’s so damn good. And two, whenever someone else brings them they are usually too dry or burnt (insert eye roll).

It’s not that hard to make sausage balls people, even if you use the boring 3 ingredient version.

Why are sausage balls only made around the holidays? Do you know? I don’t know! I mean they make a great breakfast treat on the weekends. They also warm up nicely in the microwave for a quick grab and go. Everyone loves them including the picky eating brats. I, myself, need to do better and try to make them more often throughout the year. Ha

So, a friend of the family introduced me to this recipe. And of course I took his version and tweaked it like I do most recipes. So thank you Steve for the foundation.

This is such an easy sausage balls recipe. And yes, this is a sausage balls Bisquick recipe as well.

Shall we gather our ingredients?

sausage balls ingredidents
  • 1lb mild pork sausage
  • 1lb hot port sausage
  • 2 cups shredded 5 cheese blend
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Bisquick
  • parsley flakes (optional)
  • milk

First things first, pre heat your oven to 400°. Also line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl toss in both things of sausage (as is, not cooked), 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, 2 cups shredded 5 cheese blend (any blend of cheese will be fine whether it’s Mexican blend, Italian blend or whatever. You just want a variety blend because it makes it taste that much better.), 3 1/3 cups of Bisquick, 1 cup milk, and lastly sprinkle parsley flakes all over that shit (measure with your heart and is completely optional).

Now mix everything together until it is well combined. I use my hands to do this because it’s the easiest for me. And YES, I wash my hands before I do all of this.

Once everything is mixed together start rolling them into almost golf ball size balls. Place them next to one another on your parchment paper lined cookie sheet. There is no need to spread them out. You should get anywhere from 55-60 balls if you do them this size.

Yes, it will be a sticky icky mess as you roll them out with your hands. You may be tempted to add more Bisquick. DON’T! Trust the process people. I have made these enough to know how they turn out and adding more Bisquick is a no from me.

Place in the oven at 400° and bake for 20 minutes or until cooked all the way through and they start to turn brown on top.

That’s it! Pull apart, let cool, and Enjoy! Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Heats up great in the microwave.
